Coming this Fall

Piri Thomas’ SEVEN LONG TIMES

The American Latino Theatre is proud to announce our collaboration with award-winning author Piri Thomas.  This fall, the AmLT will present a staged reading of Thomas’ critically acclaimed Seven Long Times, his passionate memoir of life in dehumanizing prisons and mean city streets.  David Llauger-Meiselman’s exciting adaptation dramatizes Thomas’ seven-year journey through an unforgiving prison system that takes us from the prison ward at Bellevue to Sing Sing and eventually Great Meadows (Comstock).  Armed with his great heart and tough street philosophy, we witness Thomas’ struggle for sanity and identity while exposing the perversity fostered on both sides of the bars by incarceration.

This staged reading is a precursor to a full production slated for Spring 2009 to be performed at ‘the lot’ (formerly the Warner Hollywood Studios).
