Fall 2024 eNewsletter - Fall Equinox

Dear Friends of Amah Mutsun Land Trust,

The Fall Equinox is an important time for reflection, prayer and ceremony.  It is a time to express gratitude for the abundance that has been provided.  This includes giving thanks for the harvest and acknowledging the love and generosity given to us by Creator and Mother Earth.

Traditionally the Fall Equinox was an important time for harvesting acorns and other nut crops which sustained us through the winter seasons.  Of course acorns were only one part of our diet; we also harvested and stored seeds, kelp, meat, fish, berries and many other foods that were consumed during the winter months.

During this time it's important for people to connect with their heritage and the natural world.  Our reflections, prayers and ceremonies are offered to help us find peace, comfort and renewal.  We must remember that everything in nature has a spirit and deserves respect and honor.

Ho!
